Course Description

The use of food-based tube feeding formulas continues to grow along with the evidence to support improved outcomes. This program will identify the benefits of food-based formulas on the microbiome, review recent evidence on improved clinical and health economic outcomes, and provide practical information for long-term use.

Course Objectives

1. Describe the effects of different feeding options on the gut microbiome and its metabolome.
2. Explain the clinical and health economic outcomes associated with use of a commercially blenderized tube feeding formula.
3. Identify strategies for successful administration of food-based tube feeding formulas using various delivery methods for home enteral nutrition.
