Standard Formulas

Standard formulas are carefully designed to meet the nutritional needs of patients who cannot or will not meet their nutritional requirements with oral food intake. Our standard formulas provide various types of protein, fats, carbohydrates and fiber as complete and balanced nutrition for individuals who require enteral feeding.

The Role of Standard Formulas in Patient Care

Enterally-delivered standard formulas play a crucial role in patient care by providing essential nutrition to individuals who cannot meet their nutritional needs orally. Standard tube feeding formulas are designed for people with normal digestion but who are at risk for undernutrition due to dysphagia, anorexia, cancer treatments and more.1

They are usually a first-order solution for patients requiring enteral nutrition,2 as they supply complete nutrition at a good value. These formulas are designed to be easily delivered and nutritionally balanced, supporting overall health, assisting healing, and helping patients achieve their nutritional goals.

Standard formulas can vary in terms of their caloric concentrations, ranging from 1.0 – 2.0 kcal/mL, and may provide differing amounts of carbohydrate, protein, fat, and fiber from various dietary sources. This allows each individual patient’s enteral nutrition regimen to be tailored to their needs.3

Nestlé Health Science offers a range of standard formulas that are evidence-based and backed by years of successful clinical use, enabling healthcare professionals to provide optimal nutrition support to their patients.
